Generic Event Info on Search Monkey

I’ve created a simple Search Monkey plugin – or “presentation application” – to enable event information to be brought forward into search results pages.

UPDATE: Its now entirely redundant! Use the standard one!

It looks like this:

The benefit to the user is that pages describing an event are more obvious and you can visually scan down the results page more easily. It’s to do with consistency of formatting and how much your eye has to move around to find specific facts.

For site owners the benefit is that users find you more easily. Yahoo claim that click through rates are increased by as much as 15%.

This simple little application was developed over beers at the evening meetings of the London Hack Space and with the aid of multimedia goodies found on the Frequency Decoder and  Snap2Objects web sites.

To encourage take up and to save duplication of effort I figured I’d open up the application to as many web site operators as possible. Thanks to the open nature of the web and the Yahoo Search Monkey platform I’ve already added support for Eventful and Upcoming – two very popular event listings sites to compliment support for my own FeelItLive.com.

If you would like to have your pages appear in this enhanced style then check the roadmap and leave a comment below detailing the pages you want supported. I’ll do my best to sort it out as soon as possible.
